Migrants’ Experiences of Racism and Xenophobia in 12 EU Member States

Monday 4 February 2008, by European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia

imprimer

This pilot study on migrants’ experiences of discrimination is based on country studies conducted between 2002 and 2005 in Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and UK. According to the study in all these countries migrants subjectively experience discriminatory practices to a significant extent. In the same time the rates of reporting the experienced discrimination to public authorities are very low. Employment and the context of commercial transactions are those fields in which the respondents proved to be particularly vulnerable.
