Individualismus - Zur kritischen Theorie der Individualisierung

The article shows how the -both sociological and philosophical- current known as the Francfort School is able to deconstruct U. Beck’s concept of «Risk society». Juste like Porf. Oskar Negt, H.E. Schiller places the discorses on risks in the wider theoretical frame of individualization in modern societies. In this article (see also his book «Das Individuum im Widerspruch», F&T, Berlin, 2006) the author reviews Beck’s thesis, showing that his concepts are quite unprecise, and he underlines the powerful critique of Theodor W. Adorno which may help to formulate a less vague conception of Risk and Uncertainety in today’s debates.
